The supported projects are monitored and evaluated individually during their implementation and after their conclusion. The activities carried out by the projects in the implementation phase and the impacts of the completed projects can be checked in the "<a href="/en/carteira-de-projetos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Projects</a>" section of this webpage.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;"> ;In order to monitor the results of the supported projects, a range of common indicators was developed for the projects that allow the results to be consolidated and provide an aggregated view of the products and services (outputs) delivered and the impacts resulting from their actions.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="/export/sites/default/en/.galleries/documentos/rafa/RAFA_2016_en.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Click here</a> to check the aggregated results of the supported projects and to access more detailed information on the monitoring and evaluation of the Amazon Fund's results (see chapter "Monitoring and Evaluation of Results" in the Annual Report of the Amazon Fund).</p> <h3><strong>Monitoring of Regional Indicators</strong></h3> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The Amazon Fund identified in its logical framework some regional or systemic indicators that are related to the public policies which it aims to contribute through the projects it supports. ;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">Monitoring these indicators helps to understand the progress made over time in promoting the reduction of deforestation with sustainable development in the Amazon. For example, the deforestation rate of the Legal Amazon is used as one of the regional indicators to follow the general objective of the Amazon Fund. In addition, the logical framework accompanies the evolution of indicators at a hierarchical level immediately below, that is, indicators that monitor the regional evolution of the four components that the Amazon Fund defined as strategic for success in tackling deforestation. ;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The baseline of each indicator is the year of 2009, since the first operations of the Amazon Fund were approved this year (without any disbursementes to projects in this first year). ;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">It is important to mention that the contribution of the Amazon Fund to the behavior of all these regional indicators, although identifiable and relevant, as attested by the evaluation of the projects concluded with the support of the fund, is not exclusive, adding to initiatives and actions of a plurality of public and private agents that operate in this vast territory that is the Amazon.</p> <h3>Summary of the monitoring of the regional indicators related to the Amazon Fund (2017) ;</h3> <ul> <li>11% reduction in the rate of deforestation in the Legal Amazon in the period from 2009 to 2017. However, when comparing the average annual deforestation occurred in the period from 2010 to 2017 with deforestation occurred in 2009 (baseline of the Fund Amazônia), there is a 17% drop in the deforested area.</li> <li>Growth of the share of the GDP of the Brazilian Amazon in relation to the Brazilian GDP (2009-2015), despite the stagnation of this indicator in the biennium 2014/2015.</li> <li>19% increase in the volume produced and 18% in the revenue generated by all the extractive products monitored (2009-2016).</li> <li>Expansion in the period from 2009 to 2017 of: (i) decentralization of environmental management to municipalities by 581%; (ii) the number of authorizing acts issued by state environmental agencies by 47%; (iii) and the number of outposts of state environmental agencies by 2%.</li> <li>Increase of 90% in the area of ​​federal protected areas and indigenous territories ; with territorial management instrument between 2009 and 2017; and worsening of the indicator that monitors deforestation in protected areas between 2009 and 2016 (a 12% increase in the annual rate of deforestation), due to the substantial increase in deforestation in state protected areas.</li> <li>Growth of 59% in the number of patent applications filed at the National Institute of Intellectual Property - INPI by residents in the Brazilian Amazon states between 2009 and 2017.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Guide for Monitoring the Impacts of Military Fire Brigade Projects</strong></h3> <p style="font-weight: 400;">A guide was prepared to monitor the impacts of projects of the Military Fire Brigades supported by the Amazon Fund as part ;of the technical cooperation project between the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Amazon Fund/BNDES. ;<br /><br /><a href="/export/sites/default/en/.galleries/documentos/monitoring-evaluation/Firefighting-impacts-guide.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Click here</a> ;to acess this guide. ;</p></div> </div></div>]]>
